Myles Doyle the grandfather of the current principals of Sherry FitzGerald Myles Doyle established the business in 1914, the year he married Lucy. He had an auctioneering business, a ships chandlers and retail store operating at 49 Lower Main Street , Arklow. He also had a dairy farm. Over the years the business has changed and grown.
Myles and Lucy had a large family, and their son Joe took over the auctioneering business whilst their other son Myles ran the retail sector. Joe Doyle died suddenly in 1973 and Breda Bermingham his sister's daughter took up the baton and since then the business has grown in leaps and bounds.
In 1989 Breda's brother Paschal left Teagasc the National Agricultural advisory service where he had been in an advisory capacity since 1981 and joined the expanding Auctioneering business, which still operated out of the original premises at 49 Lower Main Street.
In 2001 Breda and Paschal introduced two dramatic changes to the family business. They built an impressive new 3,000 sq. ft property at 45 Main Street and they also joined the Sherry FitzGerald Countrywide franchise.
