AGB under 10’s played their third blitz of the year on Saturday last in Laragh. In total 7 teams entered this blitz. AGB entered two teams, a number of girls were away on holidays which meant each of the 13 players got plenty of football. AGB Green Team played 4 matches while the AGB blue team played 3 matches…a total of 140 minutes of football, remarkable for these girls who are all under 10 years of age!
The girls put in some great performances throughout the day and got plenty of opportunity to practise all their new skills they have been learning in training and at the AGB summer camps. It was clear the girls have been working on their blocking from the powerful defensive play of the backs throughout the day. Their was brilliant support play for each other in the centre of midfield and the girls certainly had their scoring boots on with some brilliant goals and points scored in each of the games. The girls who played in goals were equally as impressive pulling off a number of fine saves not to mention their strong accurate kick-outs!
Well done to all the girls on Saturday-they gained valuable experience playing in numerous positions entertaining all their supporters with some very exciting football displays. It would be impossible to pick out any one in particular since they all played brilliantly and contributed so much to each of the games! However we must say well done to Katie Hawthorne who played her first game for AGB! A big thank you to all the parents who travelled to Laragh and supported the girls and gave them loads of encouragement on the sideline. Training continues every Thursday on the juvenile pitch in Pearse Park at 5.45 -7. All new girls very welcome. Come on the Gers!
