The U14 Girl’s Team had to overcome sudden death penalties to qualify for the County Feile Final taking place today in Aughrim County Grounds at 5.15pm. Ciara Forde scored the winning penalty for AGB.
It was an extremely tough but enjoyable weekend for the team. They will battle today against Baltinglass for a chance to represent Wicklow at the All-Ireland Feile in July. Yesterday, they played three games; their first was against Batlinglass who they beat 2-01 to 1-02.
They lost their second game against Tinahely, 2-06 to 0-01. Next, they took on St Nic’s of Wicklow and had a smashing win, 7-01 to 0-0. In the semi-final, they had an epic battle with Blessington, the teams were level at full time 1-02 to 1-02. It proceeded into penalties. After five penalties each the score line remained even, so the game went to sudden death, four penalties later and no change that is until Ciara Forde stepped up to the mark and scored the winning goal. Well done girls! Best of luck today!
