After putting in a fantastic display of football all day Sunday, the girls were pipped to the post in the final by Baltinglass in the county grounds on Monday. The team did the club proud and kept fighting till the final whistle blew. The final score was 4-03 to 1-01.
They beat Baltinglass the day previously, but the westsiders came back on the attack for this game. Five minutes in, Baltinglass registered a goal on the scoreboard. Arklow scored a point but Baltinglass retaliated with another goal again. Arklow were awarded a penalty; Baltinglass' goalkeeper deflected it but Arklow did not waste the ball and smashed it to the back of the net. Score at the end of the second half was 3-01 to 1-01.
Arklow kept pushing in the second half but it was not to be. Baltinglass got another goal and two points.
There was some outstanding defensive play from Arklow and every player can be proud of the efforts they put in.
