Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney 1-12 Hollywood 1-7

AGB have yet to be unbeaten in the League this season after they gave a rejuvenated second-half performance against Hollywood last Saturday. AGB made up for their slow start in the first half and took over the game with a fine second half performance.

Scores were kept low in the first half: Hollywood was leading 0-4 to 0-3; it should have been much higher with Hollywood kicking numerous wides. Damien Hurley scored the first point for Arklow fifteen minutes in. It was ten minutes later when Philip Gleeson kicked over a fine point with good ball fed in by Alan Mc Bride. Hollywood were quick to retaliate and scored a further two points. Just before half-time, Ivan Hurley closed the gap to just one point when he kicked over AGB’s third.

Hollywood came on the attack straight away in the second half – in the first two minutes they were awarded a penalty which they didn’t waste. However, a series of blitzing points from the Hurley Brothers, Damien, Stephen and Ivan, punished Hollywood’s defenders. They scored six superb points between them, with Damien kicking over three. A goal chance for Arklow was blocked down with a 45 kick awarded; substitute Billy Manley made sure AGB’s scoreboard elevated further, shooting the ball over the bar. Shortly after, AGB’s Andy Brennan raced in and supplied Philip Gleeson with a good ball who slotted it to the back of the net. Another point from Stephen Hurley left Hollywood reeling. Two points near the end of full time was all Hollywood could muster. Damien Hurley put in a man of the match performance along with number 10 man, Mark Ivanoff who gave a master-class in high fielding.
