The men’s senior team had a disappointing loss against Kiltegan last Saturday in their league game, losing by just two points.
Arklow Gers/Ballymoney started off promising with Stephen Hurley opening the scoring line with two points & Niall Mullet slotting the ball over the bar. Kiltegan scored two points but AGB pushed their lead further with a terrific goal scored by Stephen Hurley after Ciaran Hyland, hand-passed the ball to him on the right of the goal.
Kiltegan responded with a point but AGB goalkeeper James Bolger stopped their lead from extending blocking down a goal chance. Further scores from Mullet, Hurley and brother Damien had AGB leading by two points at half-time.
The second-half saw Kiltegan up their game scoring five unanswered points, two from frees. Pat Egan & Stephen Hurley scored points but crucially for Kiltegan the ball found the back of AGB’s net, pushing their lead to five points. A loss was not yet within AGB’s sights as a point from Damien Hurley and a goal scored by Ciaran Hyland left AGB trailing by just a point. But in the closing minutes, luck was not on AGB’s side with the ball hitting the post twice. Philip Gleeson scored a point but Kiltegan finished the match off scoring two more points.
